TANIA VERDEZ

My name is Tania Verdez and I am a maker, designer and lover of clay and ceramic objects. I live in idyllic, romantic Daylesford in country Victoria, not far from the wonderful city of Melbourne, but far enough to be immersed in the beauty of nature. My ceramic work is simultaneously a personal journey of self discovery and an outer study of external influence. I am constantly experimenting with new materials and combinations of these materials to create new effects and surprising outcomes. My work and aesthetic is wabi-sabi in nature and my pieces are mostly one off. I enjoy and celebrate the perfection of imperfection and the beauty of chaos. I am constantly awed and inspired by my internal landscape which references my childhood in small town New Zealand and my outer visual landscape which is the Australian bush and sweeping mountain views, but most of all the weather, the sky and the intense seasons we experience here in the central highlands.
