Spoonsmithing with Jesse-Bree

250.00

On a warm Saturday, a small gathering will take place within the gently restored 1800's barn, affectionately known as The Old Girl, for a celebration of appreciation for reclaimed timber.

This special workshop aims to give a new insight into the thoughtful craft of woodworking as you create your own individual spoon; a sustainable keepsake to enjoy for years to come.

Enjoy a slow living experience and the meditative pleasure of designing and forging an object to fulfil a need in your home. Coffee scoop? Salt or sugar spoon? A stirrer? It can be as minimal or as creative as your wish, as long as it feels at home in your hand.

Working with wood is a craft and skill that has been universal to cultures around the world. It connects us to the trees, to the forest and to our ourselves. Over the day, you'll gain an introduction to traditional woodcarving tools and techniques with a focus on process, shape, form and function. Each type of timber has characteristics, a mood and a feel. Get to know them amongst friends and good food.

Suitable for beginners, although participants should be comfortable with the idea of handling sharp tools. Please wear clothes you don't mind getting a little dusty.
